Healthy Me and healthy us!

I belong to a family of foodies , Hoteliers and restaurateurs . Yes ! My family ,did invent the Butter chicken and the Dal makhani besides Tandoori chicken and other delicacies . The obvious question in your minds, would be why , out of all people , Monish , who makes his living, selling butter chickens and butter filled delights oozing with dollops of cream , butter and ghee, should be talking about healthy food , healthy recipes , gym and fitness

And why Not?

Irrespective of the jobs we do , the life style we lead , there are no excuses ,when it comes to looking after ones own health . As goes the old saying :Health is Wealth” When we are young ,we probably don’t realise it and as the age goes by, most of us do and sometimes its late in the day, when we actually realise it . We must propagate a healthy life style and educate our young ones about the importance of health and exercises from the very beginning . It’s not only sermons and talks that are going to influence our loved ones and young ones , its our actions that would.

Coming back to my family , from where this topic started , we were and are in glamour business as the Hotel and restaurant industry is , besides numerous hours of hard work we all have to put in to get the show going. This means we have to be fit and and look fab for our job .

I would see my Grandfather working out with dumbness and doing pushups every morning despite coming from work late at night from the restaurant , my grand mother walking till Shree Sheeshganj Sahab Gurudwara ,every morning from our house at Rajpur road and back and my parents doing yoga , going for swims and playing squash daily .

Our meals wold be healthy – breakfast with seasonal fruits, honey and maze flour, millet flour or wheat flour paranthas with home made butter , simple lentil and green vegetable lunch and butter milk and soup and tandoori tikkas , kebabs for dinner and of course cheat days were plenty too . The healthy quotient was imbibed in us since beginning and it always stayed on .

The mantra “follow a fitness routine , eat healthy and be healthy for a good life”
